The Field is Ripe for Harvest It would be easy to say "Look at what we have done." But, it is more appropriate to say "Look at what we have to do." This ministry is just beginning. Ghana is a country with a strong tradition of achievement in comparison to their African neighbors. Ghana is also defined as a country where: • 70% of doctors turned out yearly from Ghana's medical schools leave the country within two years. • 85% of the country's revenue goes into salaries and wages with only 15% set aside for development (2002). • 29 % of children aged 7-14 years are engaged in economic activity. • 30 % of all those attending polytechnics are women; only 1 % of these women are taking technical courses. • Roughly half the population lives on one dollar a day or less. • Infant mortality is approximately 51 per 1000 live births, compared to 9.3 per 1000 in the United States. (2005) Our long term goal is to be able to provide continual effort to aid all of the projects mentioned, and some not mentioned, in a way that generates a consistent and sustained positive impact in Ghana and West Africa.
