St. Joseph's:
BRIEF HISTORY AND PROGRESS REPORT OF ST. JOSEPH
ANGLICAN CHURCH - PRAMPRAM
HISTORY: - According to current record, the church would be almost 70 years old with a current membership of about five hundred (registered) and about 340 (active membership).
Prampram is in Ghana in the Greater Accra Region, within the Dangme West District, along the Coast. The main occupation of the people is predominantly fishing and farming it was believed that sometime past) the town had been controlled by fetism but the presence of churches including the Anglican Church has helped to defuse these.
The building that house the church collapse in the year 1999, and so with, the able leadership of His grace, Most Rev. Dr. Justice Ofei Akrofi New Church building was started in the year 2000. The new building is almost completed the roofing which cost almost $40,000 was sponsored by our development partner from United States of America led by Frank Myers and they still have the church in their heart.
The purpose of this huge support for the church is in pursuant of the vision of the Archbishop to use St. Joseph as the main center to move forward the missionary work within Dangme East and West areas which has a lot of social economic and spiritual needs.
VISION / FUTURE PLANS
We are left to complete the church building by tiling the walls and floors, Electrical and ceiling, and we trusting the Lord that this could be possible by the end of the year 2008. One of the weakness of the church is the poverty level of the people within it Catchment Area due to lack of jobs. Hence we, as a church have identified education as the only means of empowerment. So our next vision is to set up a vocational Technical Senior High Senior High School which would help to give skill to the youth to be self employed to curb social vices such as stealing, teenage pregnancy, idolisms etc. The church has the land for this project.
It is our prayer that church, the body of Christ, individually and collectively w.tid be a blessing to the people of Dangme East and West to establish the kingdom of God here on earth. Finally I would like to take this opportunity to thank god for using people like you as a means of blessing to my ministry and the vision of Archbishop Justice Ofei Akrofi.
Could you make a contribution to help our efforts in Ghana?
As we are a 501(c)( 3) nonprofit organization, any donations made are tax deductible.
Thank you for any assistance you can offer.
God bless -
